New Agents:
By end of 2nd year in Real Estate they must have:
  1. 90 hoursin addition to the 180 they took to become agent = total of 270 (3-30hr courses)
    • GRI designation is 3- 30 hr courses
  2. also must have Legal I and Legal II (4hr each)
So a new agent must have 98 additional hours by end of second year (before their renewal).
Agents 3 years or more (renewal every 2 years):
  • Legal I and Legal II (4hr each)
  • 3 hours of contract d-related coursework
  • 7 hours of elective CE
NOTES
Code of Ethics is required every three years you can check your status at nar.realtor on your profile.
Anyone leading a team or in a mentor position must take the 6 hour broker responsibility course as part of the 7 hr elective (JPAR & TREC Rules)
My suggestion for new agents is to get the GRI designation where ever it is offered. Going to the free CE and paying 10 dollars here or there will not get the new agents where they need to be. It will, however, count later on if they ever decide to get their broker’s license.
